My Last Walk (4/15):

April, 2015

I took my last walk for a while this morning. I decided to go a little further. Heck, why not. Sure, it hurt more, but I love walking and know I will miss it during my recuperation. It was a perfect Central Oregon morning; sunny, 20 degrees, fresh, clean air, birds singing, snow covered mountains glistening. The perfect time to recall so many blessings in my life. As my hip started to hurt more during the last ½ mile I remembered to care for it. Having an imaginary conversation that went something like this, “I know you’re hurting, but we’re going to get better soon. There will be some more pain initially, then hopefully lots of pain-free walks and hikes this summer.” I visualized sending my hip (and myself) a warm glow of tenderness, like I would a frightened and confused child who wouldn’t have the capacity to understand what was about to happen. It will all be OK.
