Demystifying Pain
Why do some pains go away, and others seem to linger on and on and on?
Why do some people end up with chronic pain, and others don't? Are some pains really "all in your head?" What is the Body - Mind connection when it comes to pain? What does "no pain, no gain" really mean if I'm already in a lot of pain?

Knowledge is Power. Allison Suran regularly offers a dynamic workshops to allow you to get a complete understanding of the difference between pain in your muscles, joints, nerves, and your BRAIN.

Learn how to resolve long lasting pain experiences and what kind of exercise is "safe" even if there is some pain and discomfort. Learn how mindfulness and self-pacing can help you get more done when pain keeps getting in your way. Learn invaluable ways to change the chronic fight-or-flight response to stress and bring moments of peace into your busy life. Stress affects all components of our health: musculo-skeletal, immune, cardiovascular, respiratory, emotional, and relational. Discover simple techniques that can be used anytime of the day and night to help notch down the pace of your treadmill that keeps you from enjoying your life to the fullest. Research shows that the number one factor that negatively affects all aspects of health is STRESS. This is also one thing that you CAN control.

Instructor: Allison Suran Licensed Physical Therapist, 1987 Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, 1996
Based on a life-long passion for helping people, Allison became a Licensed Physical Therapist in 1987. She realized early on that many physical problems have a mental and emotional component and was determined to explore and understand this mind-body connection, as well as the healing process. To further these goals, in 1996 she completed her 4-year training to become a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner.

Because of her unique perspective, Allison has focused much of her care with the chronic pain population. Recently the scientific community has been publishing new brain research which validates the mind-body-pain connection.

Allison's focus on caring for people with chronic pain conditions has led her to consolidate these scientific findings into the two classes described in this brochure, offering hope to people with chronic pain. The medical community sees difficult cases of patients experiencing chronic pain and not responding to standard interventions. These people can feel abandoned by the medical system, but there are solutions. Allison and her team of therapists at Healing Bridge Physical Therapy specialize in utilizing effective and proven ways to treat the chronic pain sufferer.
